Carbonite Sucks

I bought carbonite thinking it was the best thing aside from an external harddrive that can malfuction, but now im back to harddrive.  First of all my computer crashed thinking i had everything backed up at carbonite.  I bought Carbonite for 2 of my computers.  It turns out Carbonite only backs up what it wants.  You have to phsically go in and hightlight what you want backed up.  What the FUXX!  i have over 500g of info.  it would take me weeks to phsycally go in an tell it what to back up.  I lost all my most important information and it turns out it backed up stupid things.  I REGRET HAVE BOUGHT THE SUBCRIPTION.  DON'T BUY THIS! YOU WILL REGRET IT.  WHEN YOU TRY TO GO BACK AND TELL IT TO RESTORE. YOU CAN'T TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER.  IT TOOK ME 5 DAYS TO RESTORE MY COMPUTER AND THEN EVERYTHING WASN'T THERE.
OOOH WORST PART IF YOU TURN IT OFF, YOU LOOSE EVERYTHING.  WHAT THE FUC! WHAT IF THERE IS A POWER OUTAGE, YOU'RE SHIT OUT OF LUCK.

BTW, ITS HARD TO USE.

THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!!! I'LL GO BACK TO ADDING AN ADDTIONAL HARD DISK DRIVE.
FUCKING LOOSERS!!!!

  1. I think carbonite is the one of the best backup and i am using this service from since 2 years but never got any problem. I think it may be problem with your system or your server may be down. It provides the real time backup service and work with almost every environment.

  2. Wait till your harddrive give out and you'll see what i am talking about. You might as well spend 12 hours clicking every file you want to back up manually cause it will only back up with in your pictures/documents files etc. Forget about anything else. I've seen the commercial that has a person saying that it backed up everything and was able to restore the everything just like it was before, THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE FARSE AND FALSE ADVERTISEMENT ON CARBONITES BEHALF. the only way to do this is to have a mirror image of your whole drive and Carbonite doesn't offer that becuase they want to use minimal space to store your stuff on thier drives. YOU'LL THANK ME LATER.

  3. Download the free Goyus application from www.goyus.com. It finds your photos, videos and documents automatically and backs them up to Google. You can also upload entire photo and video albums to Facebook and YouTube.

  4. I agree that Carbonite is a poor service. I'm sure it works for some people, but:
--it still has not finished my initial backup after several years (because of severe bandwidth throttling by Carbonite)
--the software chokes repeatedly, and tech support tells users to reinstall it constantly
--Carbonite hides the reinstall feature at its website, so it is hard to find
--I have spent untold hours with their tech support and they assure me nothing is wrong--this is how it is supposed to work
Carbonite is, in my opinion, a poor service with misleading marketing and a website that is no use if you have to solve a problem.

  5. I wasn't even able to use it! I bought it, and would not even installed. Told them I didn't want anything to do with it, they came back and gave me all sorts of instructions - all failed. I'm asking for my money back. This is what I do: I have an External HDD and I use it daily. I also have 2 additional backup Drives. Every other month I backup my external HDD to the other two, one month one, one month the other, etc. It is not fault-free by any means, but at least there's always one available even while using two for back up purposes. Whenever one gets bad (which has happened twice in the last 7 years) I buy another and keep doing this month to month. Good luck.

  6. Buyer beware...I have tried to back up a mere 500GB. It's taken over one year and my first back up is still incomplete. Only 120 GB left. What good isit if I have a system failure...

  7. If you click the wrong button without reading the fine print, you will lose your data. The tech I spoke to said it happens all of the time with Carbonite customers.

Carbonite sux. I lost 5 years of pictures because of Carbonite.

They REALLY do not care that you lose your data. No emails, not warnings, nada.

  8. What a FAIL!
I have about 550GB to backup, it's been about 10 months, and only 300GB so far. I emailed them to see what was up, and got this response:
"After you reach 200GB in your backup, your upload speed will be reduced. The current maximum speeds are as follows:
-The first 200GB of data can achieve upload speeds of up to 2 mbps (megabits per second).
-At 200GB or more of data, upload speeds are limited to around 100 kbps (kilobits per second)."
Yo, bro, at 100kbps, my backup will probably NEVER be finished, given the fact that I'm adding new stuff all the time. What's the point of having it backed up if it's never complete? Not a very secure feeling. And God forbid I ever need the data . . . am I supposed to wait a year or more to have my system up and running again? If you only have 40GB to backup, maybe this is a good solution. But that is a silly small amount of data. I have requested a refund and we'll see how that goes. Buyer beware.

  9. Yes DeanH you're right also don't forget its not like you'll press back up and you're system is up and running, it only backs up files it thinks are best to backup. Other wise you'll have to spend ours clicking every file you really need backed up like system files and such. You really need a system image (mirror) backup.

  10. I have experienced the same BS once I reached the 200GB limit.
I am going to contact the Attorney Generals Office Of Mass. A class action law suit will be my next call.

  11. Same here. If it's not one thing it's another with them....wasn't running shadow copies on a drive....backup fail....you need to run shadow copies...even if you don't want or need to. .... Now, can't save a full backup...cause it's not auto deleting old backups....therefore, can't get anything saved....one issue after another....and this is all after I lost some files with them.....
